So, death overall in this season still bears dramatic tension. With Season 3 the problem is people dying and staying dead is the exception rather than the rule. The wind was taken out of deaths parachute. So when a throat is slit or a person buried alive the audience reaction is to shrug and say: "No worries.
For example you could probably form an opinion in a few episodes on shows like House or CSI. But for a drama like AHS I agree you pretty much have to take the season as it comes. Unfortunately even after watching the whole season I still think season 3 was by far the weakest. The only positive of the season was Kathy Bates, IMO.
Like the others mentioned, Big Daddy is a metaphor for the HIV virus. He appears to those who’ve been infected with it. The finale episodes show Gino attending multiple funerals before he inevitably passes from the virus too.

Well deserved. Definitely not the most scary season, but well written and acting was spot on. Every episode was entertaining and I actually thought it was a pretty decent ending. 3rd: Murder House the best "horror story" in AHS. If you didn't feel uncomfortable (as you should have) watching Tate whistle down the school halls, you're not human.
